Past Fashions: Curiouser and Curiouser…

Thought I’d post one of my favourite editorials, the Alice in Wonderland shoot by Annie Leibovitz for US Vogue in December 2003. I find this an overwhelmingly happy combination– one of my favourite stories with beautiful dresses and photography. It stars Natalia Vodianova as Alice, with a host of designers playing the story’s characters. In each scene Natalia wears the relevant designer’s take on a blue dress.

I was in fashion school when this came out..and I still remember the waves this one generated!
Lovely to see it again…and you are right..this might be among the best ones they got!
It came out during my freshman year of college. My room-mate and I immediately fell in love with it and put it up on our walls. I’m generally not overly thrilled with US Vogue’s editorials, but this one utterly enchanted me.

I remember this well. Usually I am not a Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel fan, but I adore his dress in this editorial- I would die to have it full-length for a wedding gown and I’d even keep it blue!
